If you are looking for genuine french food in a casual setting, with a Chef behind the stove who cares and respects the product, you must MUST check out this new neighborhood gem in the heart of chinatown. Run by Stéfan Jonot (former owner of Les Enfants Terible) this Parisian Neo-Bistro offers a brand new menu created by the star chef David Malbequi in a fun interactive lay-out. Featured menu classics include: Charcuterie Board "l'Orgie", Mussels with Chorizo "La Moule coquine", beef Tartare" Le tartare du bled" and the Duck Confit "L'accent du Sud-ouest" will leave your buds wanting more. The short and precise wine list is fairly priced and pairs well. A guaranteed good time to be had by all. Cash only

I've lived in the East Village for 6 years and I've been here dozens of times, so needless to say it's one of my favorite casual and inexpensive restaurants in the area. They serve homemade-style Venezuelan food, and are most well-known for their arepas. Arepas are doughy tortilla shells that are opened up and stuffed with various choices meats, cheese, vegetables and sauces. The "De Pabellon", with shredded beef, caramelized onions and salty cheese, and the chicken and chorizo "La Surena" are my two favorites. It's a small space that is seemingly always filled, so if you're in a rush and don't want to wait to be seated they also have Caragas To Go for takeout.

That place is simply amazing! That you just go to the bar or sit, everyone is very friendly, and they take good care of their regulars! Their food is always delicious, portions are great! One dessert not to be missed is the hot brownie with ice cream. Sounds like nothing but its decadent! In addition the wine list price are pretty low on mark up, probably close to 1/2 price compare to Manhattan and a large choice, or if it still doesn't satisfy you, you can bring your own bottle for only $15 corkage...

Wafa's is definitely our neighborhood go-to spot. We stumbled upon this Lebanese gem 2 years ago when we first moved to Kew Gardens. The food is out of this world good. The portions are huge and super reasonably priced. We always come home with leftovers and get to indulge a second night. I order lamb shwarma every single time because it is so amazing that I am afraid to miss it even once. Chris always orders a kebab. The hummus is incredible. Get a meat pie if you can (hurry they sell out fast), and make sure you ask for hot sauce and white sauce. Apply liberally. Every recipe is Wafa's family recipe from Lebanon and made from scratch. Even the hot sauce. We eat here a liiiiiittle too frequently ;) Oh, and Wednesdays is BYOB no corking fee.

I'd love to bring my daughter here when she is in the city. Do you know if they have any vegetarian dishes?

Hi yes they do! They have vegetarian platters and several vegetarian sandwiches (falafel, baba ganoush, hummus, tabouli, and cauliflower).
