What are the best dim sum restaurants in NYC?

A little bit of an unassuming name, yes, but they have wonderful and authentic dim sum and are meticulous about using fresh seafood (that you can see walking around in the tanks at the restaurant).
The pork shumai and the steamed crab dumplings are my favorite dishes, and you can easily walk away pleasantly full at this place spending under $20 for a drink + dim sum.

This isn't really a traditional Cantonese dim sum restaurant (this is Shanghai-style), but their xiao long bao (soup dumplings) are some of the best in the city! Grab a tray or two of their dumplings, maybe a bowl of the pork chop noodle soup, and have a delicious brunch on a budget!

Many dim sum places tend to prepare all of their food in advance and keep them in the freezer to reheat in the steamer closer to service, but come to this real jewel of a restaurant (sorry) and you'll find a fresh, delicious array of some of the finest Cantonese dim sum in New York!

Is there a particular dim sum here that you would suggest trying? Pork, chicken, etc;

I frequent this large, bustling, well-priced restaurant for well-executed dim sum, including barbecue pork buns, red bean buns, and steamed dumplings.
This vegetarian joint has a great dim sum offering! They don't have the carts going around; they take orders in the kitchen, but that only means that the food is fresher! Definitely get an order of their turnip cakes. Their vegetarian "meats" are extremely convincing as well! Try the black pepper "chicken."
Will someone pay me to eat good food for a living?
This restaurant's modern take on Cantonese cuisine is known for their roast duck, but they have a pretty decent dim sum offering as well. Definitely pricier than your standard Chinatown dim sum restaurant, but it's worth going once to try their oxtail spring rolls and roast duck!
