At the risk of sounding pompous, arrogant, and oddly self-serving, I will begin by saying that before I worked here, I was a huge fan of the Boilermaker burger, and now that I am their resident chef, I am happily STILL excited by the burger.

Let's begin with the bun- potato roll, toasted. Many in the know say that potato buns or brioche are the best options for burgers, lending a sweetness and fluffiness that can't be replicated by the typical sesame seed bun or kaiser roll.

The meat is well seasoned and served medium rare, nicely seared for a crisp bite yet remaining juicy and flavorful. In addition to the standard lettuce, tomato and onion (sparingly placed, so that you taste the burger, not just the toppings), you get atchara- Filipino style pickled veg, specifically cucumbers, carrots and daikon radish. To finish the burger, it is topped with fig aioli, lending a sweet/salty creamy richness that Hellman's just can't touch.

Put it all together and you have a burger that many say is the best in the city. If there is a criticism to be made about this burger, it is that you'll blink and its gone, prompting you to order another one. Don't believe me? Ask TimeOut NY, or Eater.com, both of whom listed it as their favorite burger. Still don't believe me? Come in, and let me make one for you, your choice: American or cheddar? :-)

I will second your vote for boilermaker. This is most certainly in my top 5 in the city, and totally underrated!

I love this question!!!!

Their black label burger is amazing! So much flavor and the meat is just juicy, delicious. This burger is definetly a must try at least once in your life. I have read that they make their own special blend for their burger meats!

Probably one of the most expensive burgers in the city, and the best. My friend still compares all other burgers to the Black Label Burger at MT. I think the Salvation burger at Salvation Burger comes close.

Ah yes! This was my go to spot when I used to work in the west village! Nothing like a BistrĂ³ burger and a mcsorleys ale late night! Bartender tom is really fun and an amazing man! Irt's more fun to sit at the bar. Cash registers are old school. Great great place for burger and beer!

The Best Burger in NYC! They serve limited quantity every night so go early, good chance by 7 pm they won't have it, their special burger sauce is addictive ! Always pretzel bun and quality meat, delicious! Go!

Very interesting! Not one of the places you typically see pop up on the best burger lists. It looks spectacular though!

Until we get an In N Out burger restaurant, this is the closest one to a double-double you can get. Except I think this burger is actually better.

Why you ask?

Because you can actually get this with bacon.

Happiest Hour is actually a pretty great place to go after you've had a long work week or day and just want to chill with your friends. Their drinks are also great and the staff are very friendly when I was there. The place isn't called the Happiest Hour for nothing. At the very least this place is worth a trip just to try the burger.
