Wine Director at La Sirena
As an initial heads up, I am absolutely biased because I work here. However, yesterday marked the first brunch service (and we've been serving a similar breakfast menu for the past couple weeks) and I thought it was outstanding. Despite being employed here, I am still always very picky about food and I think La Sirena has some really stellar stand outs for a satisfying breakfast. My first love here for breakfast are hands down the Amaretti Marscapone Pancakes. The pancake itself is fluffy and delicious, and the edition of crumbled amaretti cookies gives a textural crunch you never knew pancakes even needed until you've had these ones. There's plenty for those who crave something a bit more savory, too. Eggs in Purgatory offers creamy poached eggs in a rich, slightly spiced tomato sauce that will leave you scrambling for more bread to sop up all the delicious sauce. For a simple, homey, but elevated meal, the Pane e Prosciutto provides salty, tangy, melt in your mouth 18-month Galloni Riserva Prosciutto offset with creamy Robiolina cheese and high-toned blood orange marmalade. And, for the hedonist in all of us, soft scrambled eggs with black truffles on toast (And there are great Champagne bottles to go with it!). If you're coming for a lazy brunch, Meaghan Montagano has put together some really fun original brunch cocktails like the tropical 40 weeks on the beach (technically a non-alcoholic drink, but feel free to add vodka, it's awesome), along with tasty spins on originals like a passion fruit mimosa.
If you stop in, make sure you say hello! This officially ends my La Sirena breakfast plug, I'm off to write stuff about other restaurants now.
